Earthmoving Equipment: Must-Have Machinery for an Extensive Project

Blog

When it comes to landscaping and construction projects, most people will gravitate toward excavators and backhoes as their main types of equipment. Although these types of machinery are quite versatile, they are not the only option that is available to you. If you would like for your project to be as time efficient as possible, you may want to invest in hiring other types of heavy equipment machinery as part of your arsenal. Below are some of the other must-have earthmoving machinery that you should consider for an extensive project.

Bulldozers

If your project entails the moving of significant amounts of earth, then you should invest in a bulldozer. Bulldozers are conserved to be one of the strongest heavy construction equipment that can be used. They are characterised by a large flat blade located at the front of the machine that is operated by the use of hydraulic pistons. The blade can be moved at various angles and varying depth depending on your needs. In addition to pushing large piles of soil, bulldozers are also capable of fine grading the earth depending on the size of blade fitted on the equipment. Also, the heavy weight of the bulldozer can be put to use for crushing large boulders that you may come across when digging the earth.

Skid steers

These types of loaders are popular since they have the ability to zero-turn, making them a great addition to construction projects that are being carried out in spaces that are significantly confined. They are also an ideal form of equipment if you have to conduct last minute touches on a construction site that has already been finalised, as they will be able to navigate within tight spaces. Skid steers are also fitted with wheels designed for traction, therefore making this equipment handy if you are working in muddy or slippery conditions. The tread pattern on the wheels of the equipment also ensures that minimal damage occurs to the finished ground of the construction site.

Motor graders

As the name suggests, this type of equipment is motorised machinery that is used to fine grade soil. They also have the ability to move about small amounts of earth. The motor graders are equipped with a long blade that functions to create flat surfaces on the construction site. Motor graders are particularly ideal if your construction project comprises the creation of a road or driveway, but they can also be used in creating shallow V-shaped trenches that can be utilised for drainage.
